Trading software and analytics provider Tethys Technology has hired Steve Diaz to head its European sales division.

Diaz has 20 years' experience in the financial markets. Prior to joining Tethys, he spent the last two years as business development manager at French trade reporting and performance/risk software company BI-SAM Technologies. Before that, he traded interest rate derivatives for investment banks Morgan Grenfell, Credit Lyonnais and Svenska Handelsbanken.

The hire is part of Tethys' efforts to expand its execution management system (EMS) sales in Europe. The company already offers the Tethys EMS, a global multi-asset algorithmic trading system.

“The depth of Steve's trading and market knowledge, as well as his extensive experience in the financial technology space, are a great addition to the Tethys London team,” said Mary Cogger, global director of sales at Tethys. “Steve will be the key person to execute the firm's plan to increase its market share in the execution management system space in Europe.”

Based in New York, Tethys Technology focuses on both software development for trading and portfolio management, and market-microstructure research.

The firm's client base includes mutual funds, traditional asset managers, hedge funds and broker-dealers.
