Deutsche Bank has appointed Brian Fagen, formerly an electronic trading head at Barclays Capital, as managing director and head of North American execution services sales.

Fagen will be based in New York and will report to Derek Capanna, head of BarCap's institutional client group, equity, Americas, and Andre Crawford-Brunt, head of equity trading in the Americas.

In his new role, Fagen will be responsible for Deutsche Bank's sales trading business in the US, including program sales trading, US cash sales trading and electronic sales trading.

In his previous role at Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of the UK's Barclays Bank, Fagen was global head of electronic trading distribution and co-head of liquid market sales trading. His role at Barclays Capital was assumed by Bill White, who was promoted to head of equities electronic trading in December last year.

Fagen was part of the team that transferred from Lehman Brothers to Barclays Capital, following the latter's takeover of the former in autumn 2008. Another member of that team, Frank Troise, who was head of equities electronic trading product at Barclays Capital, left the firm last January to join the electronic trading division of J.P. Morgan.

Fagen also spent 19 years at Morgan Stanley in various equity sales and trading roles.

“We are pleased to welcome Brian to our team and believe he will be successful due to his versatile background and deep industry experience,” said Crawford-Brunt.
