Liquidnet's Chatfield returns to Lazard

Liquidnet’s head of sales for the Asia Pacific region is returning to his previous employer after an absence of four and a half years.

Liquidnet’s head of sales for the Asia Pacific region is returning to his previous employer after an absence of four and a half years.

James Chatfield left Lazard Asset Management as an equities dealer in May 2011 after 13 and a half years with the group, to join Liquidnet, initially as a sales and relationship manager.

On joining Liquidnet, Chatfield originally reported in to Sam Macqueen, director of Liquidnet Australia and was hired to support sales across Oceania.

Liquidnet launched is Asian operation in November 2007, with trading operations in Australia beginning in 2008. Malaysia and New Zealand operations followed in 2010 and Indonesia in 2011.

Chatfield was later promoted to be a director in the business in December 2011 and was additionally appointed head of APAC sales in June 2014, according to his social media profile on LinkedIn.

Before joining Liquidnet, Chatfield worked as an equities dealer at Lazard – a position he held between November 1997 and May 2011 – with responsibility for trading equities in the Australian and Indian markets.

Before taking up the role in Australia, Chatfield had worked at a portfolio assistant in Lazard’s London office for four years.

Chatfield graduated Loughborough University with an Bachelor of Science in Economics in 1997.

Chatfield and representatives from Liquidnet and Lazard Asset Management were unable to comment in time for publication.
