BTIG hires ex-buysider to lead European outsourced desk

Firm hopes hire will help boost buy-side offering.

Broker BTIG has hired Balraj Briah to head up its European outsourced trading business.

Briah joins the firm as a managing director from CF Global, where he was a senior equities trader in its outsourced sales and trading group.

Before CF global he was at Citigroup, where he was head of middle markets sales trading, and has worked in equity, cash and portfolio trading groups at both Nomura and Bank of New York.

Briah began his career on the buy-side as a global equity trader at Deephaven Capital and M&G Investments.

“Raj’s first-hand buy and sell-side experience has equipped him with a profound understanding of our industry from every angle,” said Gary Hayes, CEO of BTIG.

“Outsource Trading is a key growth business for the firm, and will be an important area of focus for clients, especially in the post-MiFID II environment. Now, with the right leadership in place, we plan to continue to build out the team to support increasing demand.”
