Soc Gen combines electronic and high-touch trading teams

Move to combine teams was made in response to client demands for more integrated trading services.

Societe Generale has completed its move to combine its electronic and high-touch trading teams in a bid to meet client demands for fully integrated trading services.

The corporate and investment banking division at the French bank has moved its high-touch cash equity team to join the global execution services team within Societe Generale Prime Services.

Francois Banneville, head of global execution services at Societe Generale, will oversee the expanded team.

Howard Sherman, head of high-touch cash equity, Andy Willis, head of exchange traded derivatives and Richard Hills, head of low-touch cash equity, will all report into Banneville.

Societe Generale explained the move will allow it to provide services across more than 125 global equity and multi-asset listed derivatives exchanges, with a choice of electronic only execution, high touch only or a customised hybrid of the two.

Banneville commented that MiFID II played a role in the bank’s decision to restructure its trading teams.

“It was important for us to be ahead of these changes and our integration project has resulted in a more nimble and integrated service, reflecting our clients’ need for comprehensive and easily accessible best execution platforms globally,” he said.
