BNY Mellon creates innovation role for treasury services

BNY Mellon veteran Christopher Mager to head up the newly created innovation group for treasury services.

BNY Mellon has appointed Christopher Mager as head of its newly established global innovation group for treasury services.

Mager was previously head of markets segments for BNY Mellon’s treasury business, heading up product development, sales and marketing strategies for several global markets.

In his new role, Mager will be responsible for innovation projects, identifying and screening business concepts, implementing new technology and assessing FinTech firms.

Ian Stewart, chief executive officer of BNY Mellon’s treasury services business, explained the innovation group was launched in response to changes in the global payments industry.

“The global payments industry is undergoing a dramatic change as new technologies are being introduced, global payments are rapidly increasing, and banks are under unprecedented pressure to improve the payments experience they deliver to their clients,” he said.

The group is part of BNY Mellon’s treasury services’ product management sector and will work towards bringing new products and capabilities to its clients.
