CBOE to extend distribution of indices via market data service

Emerging markets and international equity indices to be available real-time, through CBOE’s Market Data Express service.

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) is set to extend distribution of its MSCI emerging markets and international equities indices.

The move is intended to “supplement MSCI’s distribution service, which focuses on institutional trading desks,” CBOE said.

MSCI Emerging Markets and MSCI EAFE will be available real-time to broker-dealers through CBOE’s ‘Market Data Express’ service, as of the third quarter of this year.

MSCI Emerging Markets represents 23 emerging market countries and covers 85% of the market capitalisation in each country.

The MSCI EAFE index is recognised as the benchmark in the US to measure international equity performance, CBOE said, covering developed markets outside of North America, Europe, Australia and the Far East.

MSCI’s indices have been listed on CBOE since an agreement was made in April last year.

CBOE said both the emerging markets and EAFE indices “Add a significant international dimension to [its] index options franchise.”
