Eris Exchange hires Bloomberg LP head of global markets

Harrington will lead the onboarding of new clearing and execution clients for the swaps futures exchange.

US swap futures exchange Eris has acquired Bloomberg LP’s head of global markets George Harrington, in its latest high-profile hiring.

Harrington joined the exchange in January to lead the completion of onboarding new clearing and execution providers.

Eris Exchange has most recently onboarded ED&F Man Capital Markets as its latest clearing and execution broker.

At Bloomberg LP, Harrington was responsible for strategy and delivery of its fixed income, foreign exchange and execution management platforms.

Prior to joining Bloomberg LP in 2007, he was head of credit default swaps (CDS) trading at Tradeweb for three years.

Neal Brady, CEO of Eris Exchange, says the appointment of Harrington will bring a new buy-side focus for the swaps futures exchange.

“He brings deep client relationships and valuable expertise to Eris as we continue to broaden our user base and meet the needs of the interest rate and credit derivatives community,” said Brady.

The appointment of Harrington is the latest high profile hiring for Eris, after it named Barclays former head of agency derivatives Tim Stack as its head of Europe.
