Euronext sees monthly trading volumes drop

Euronext reports declining transaction values across its business lines.

Euronext has reported an 18% decrease in the average daily transaction value traded on its cash order book in October.

The value dropped to €6.3 billion in October this year, down 18% compared to the same period last year, although volume traded was up 9.5% compared to the third quarter daily average.

ETFs followed the same trend with average daily transaction value traded plummeting almost 30% to €421 million compared to October 2015, but slightly up from the third quarter average daily value.

The average daily volume on commodities derivatives in October this year totalled 48,740 contracts, a 30% increase compared to September this year but a small drop compared to October last year.

On an annual basis, the overall average daily volume on Euronext derivatives stands at 487,320 contracts, down 10.3% from the end of October in 2015.

Euronext said it raised over €11 billion for corporate bonds in October this year, compared to €2.8 billion in the same period last year.
