Knight confirms Maasland hire
Knight Capital has confirmed the appointment of Albert C
Maasland as head of its international business to develop and grow the agency
broker’s operations in the UK, continental Europe and Asia.
The former chairman of Saxo Capital Markets UK and Saxo
Capital Markets South Africa, Maasland will be based in London, reporting to
chairman and chief executive Tom Joyce and serving on the firm’s executive
committee.
Maasland has over 25 years experience in the global capital
markets. He joined Saxo Bank in 2007 as head of Europe, the Middle East and
Americas, charged with expanding international operations, solidifying processes
and procedures, and strengthening regional management.
“Knight is an established leader in trading US equities but
more and more we’re recognised for our capabilities across borders and asset
classes,” said Joyce. “All of our businesses have gained significant traction
among global clients and we continue to expand and grow volumes in European and
Asian equities, fixed income and currencies.”
Knight’s institutional sales and trading in Europe and Asia
includes global equities and fixed income as well as capital markets. Its market
making includes Knight Link, an electronic access point to the firm’s
off-exchange liquidity. Electronic execution services cover the firm’s Knight
Direct and Hotspot FX institutional electronic trading products.
“With Albert coordinating the effort, Knight has an
extraordinary opportunity to build on our success in serving clients outside
the US,” said Joyce.
