The head of systematic trading at Fidelity International has left the firm after nearly 12 years with the investment group, a spokesperson confirmed.

Jonathan Finney first joined Fidelity in 2006 as an equities trader covering European markets as well as options and futures trading.

Throughout his time he worked closely with the London team to develop the equities and derivatives trading strategy.

Finney worked his way up to become head of systematic trading for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and was responsible for overseeing the systematic process for electronic low-touch equity and futures trading.

His responsibilities also included building out Fidelity’s transaction cost analysis and developing a framework for broker selection, analysis and allocation.

Finney also handled numerous projects at the asset manager ranging from regulatory implementation tasks to EMS testing.

In 2015, Finney was nominated for The TRADE’s Rising Stars programme due to his expertise in low-touch trading, with industry figures and colleagues praising his commitment to research, training and data analytics.
