Royal London taps Rising Star Cathy Gibson to run centralised trading desk

Former Deutsche Asset Management bond trading chief to head new centralised trading dealing team at RLAM.

Royal London Asset Management (RLAM) has appointed Rising Star Cathy Gibson as its head of dealing, responsible for heading up a newly-created centralised trading desk at the firm that will cover all asset classes.

The new desk will be populated with four traders who already work within its equity and fixed income teams, working under the leadership of Gibson, who is set to join on 19 February, subject to regulatory approval.

“RLAM has seen major growth and transformation in the past few years, with the establishment of multi-asset and global equities teams and the expansion of its fixed income and UK equity capabilities,” said Piers Hillier, chief investment officer at RLAM. “Cathy is just who we need to lead on the smooth and successful transition towards RLAM’s new operating model, which separates fund management and trading responsibilities.”

Listed as a 2016 Rising Star by The TRADE, she previously ran the UK fixed income trading team at Deutsche Asset Management for over two years.  She also held trading roles across asset classes at Pioneer Investments, KBC Asset Management and Bank of Ireland.
