UBS poaches Citi markets head for senior investment role

Suni Harford joins UBS from Citi where she has worked for the past 24 years.

UBS Asset Management has hired the former head of markets at Citigroup as head of investments from July this year.

Suni Harford will be responsible for overseeing 500 investment staff and $600 billion in assets under management across traditional and alternative asset classes.

She joins from Citi where she has worked for the past 24 years, most recently as regional head of markets for North America.

In the role, Harford was responsible for sales, trading origination and research across all fixed income, currencies, commodities, equities and municipal businesses.

She will be based in New York and will report to Ulrich Koerner, president at UBS Asset Management.

Commenting on the new appointment, Koerner explained Herford brings strong leadership experience, broad knowledge of the investment markets and a deep understanding of macro-economics.

“Over the past two and a half years, we have transformed investments from a multi-boutique structure into the integrated platform we have today… [Harford] will build on this by executing on our strategy to deliver sustainable performance for our clients,” Koerner said.
