KBW appoints Grant to head equity trading

Grant will replace John Ragan, who retires after 23 years with the broker-dealer.

Boutique broker Keefe, Bruyette & Woods (KBW) has appointed R J Grant as director of equity trading.

Grant joined the investment bank in 2005 and has spent that time on the KBW equity trading desk, most recently as senior managing director and head of market making.

He replaces John Ragan who is stepping down from the role to retire after 23 years at KBW.

“Under John and R J’s leadership, our U.S. equity sales and trading team has been consistently ranked number one by Greenwich Associates and we have significantly increased our share of trading volume,” said Thomas B. Michaud, CEO of KBW.  “We thank John for his many contributions to KBW and look forward to building on this success with R J at the helm.”

Grant is a graduate of Bucknell University and began his trading career at the equity trading division of Ryan Beck as an associate.
