Barclays hires Credit Suisse trading veteran to lead global electronic equities

Naseer Al-Khudairi worked at Credit Suisse for 20 years and will join Barclays in March.

Barclays has appointed a new global head of electronic equities who will join the bank after spending nearly 20 years at Credit Suisse in various senior electronic trading roles.

Naseer Al-Khudairi built his extensive career experience at Credit Suisse leading several businesses at the investment bank, including roles as head of European cash equities and head of cross asset electronic trading.

He left the bank in September and in his new role will report to Stephen Dainton, global head of equities, who joined Barclays in September and previously worked with Al-Khudairi at Credit Suisse.

Al-Khudairi was responsible for building Credit Suisse’s electronic trading platform which gained first mover advantage and was graded first in client rakings for more than 10 years.

“Naseer’s appointment is hugely important as we look to further strengthen our electronic equities offering and increase the profitability of our cash platform,” Dainton commented.

“Naseer’s expertise will bring a new perspective to our equities franchise adding considerable value for both our clients and our equities team.”

Barclays has made efforts to poach industry talent for its corporate and investment banking business following a string of strategic hires late last year.

Aside from Dainton who joined the bank in September, Barclays hired Guy Saidenberg from Goldman Sachs as head of distribution and structuring, and Michael Lublinsky from Bevan Howard.

At the end of last year, Barclays appointed all three, alongside its head of credit Adeel Khan, as co-heads of markets reporting to Tim Throsby, the CEO of the bank’s corporate and investment banking business.

A spokesperson confirmed Al-Khudairi will officially join Barclays in March and be based in London.
