Aquis Exchange appoints product management head as client base grows

Adrian Ip previously spent five years at Thomson Reuters in various product management roles.

Aquis Exchange has hired a head of project/ product management in a newly-created role, as the firm looks to strengthen its services amid a growing client base.

Adrian Ip will assume the position after spending five years at Thomson Reuters in various product management roles. including lead product manager for Eikon transactions.

He also held positions at Horizon Software and trading solutions provider Actant, with a focus on product development and client services.

Ip will be responsible for coordinating internal projects, including the development of new order types for Aquis MTF and the delivery of matching engines, single dealer platforms and surveillance systems.

He will report to Jonathan Clelland, chief operating officer at Aquis Exchange, who explained both the exchange and technology sides of the business have seen steady growth.

At the end of October this year, the exchange operator saw a record day of activity with 2.4% pan-European market share of continuous trading.

“We felt it necessary to bring on board a highly experience product manager of Ip’s calibre to ensure our products continue to be state-of-the-art and our service levels remain of the highest level possible,” said Clelland.

Ip added that MiFID II and other regulatory changes represent an important step change to the trading landscape and high liquidity, low toxicity lit venues have to be the future for the industry.

“I will draw on my experience in both hands-on product development and account management to help drive the Aquis brand forward,” added Ip.
