Japan’s volumes increase in September

The daily average trading value in the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s 1st Section was JPY 2.28 trillion in September, a 15% monthly increase.

The Japan Exchange Group has released its trading overview for September 2014. In the cash equity market, the daily average trading value in the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s 1st Section was JPY 2.28 trillion, an increase from JPY 1.95 trillion in the previous month and bucking a monthly downward trend during the spring and summer of 2014.

The trading value of Tokyo Stock Exchange 1st Section domestic stocks during the first half of financial year 2014 was JPY 257 trillion, the fifth highest interim figure on record.

In Japan’s exchange-traded fund market, September’s trading volumes recorded JPY 2.13 trillion, an increase from JPY 1.93 trillion in August.

For the TSE 2nd Section, September’s trading value was JPY 1.1426 trillion, exceeding JPY 1 trillion for the first time in nearly a decade.

Total derivatives trading volume from April to September was 126 million contracts, the second highest figure on record.
