Buy-side foreign exchange trading services provider GAIN Capital Group has launched a new version of its margin trading platform, FOREXTrader for Windows. Following a successful beta test with select clients, the platform is now available at no charge to GAIN Capital Group clients around the world. It can be accessed via GAIN Capital (www.gaincapital.com), GAIN's service for professional traders, and FOREX.com (www.forex.com), GAIN's retail division for self-directed individual investors.
Trading Technologies International (TT) yesterday announced plans to offer energy traders connectivity to the Dubai Mercantile Exchange Limited (DME) when the Middle East's first energy futures exchange begins operations on May 1, 2007. It is a joint venture between Tatweer, a member of Dubai Holding, and the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX).
StreamBase Systems, a Complex Event Processing (CEP) provider, yesterday launched two new solutions focussed on MiFID and algorithmic trading to meet the requirements of regulatory complexity and soaring market volumes in Europe. The solutions are the firm's response to growing customer demands and the increased investment by the financial services industry in specialised CEP.
Michael Frank is to head Telekurs (Nederland) BV from 1 April 2007. He will continue as Managing Director of Telekurs (Deutschland) GmbH and of the Austrian branch office in Vienna. Michael Frank takes over from Jan de Groot, who is retiring on 31 March 2007. Jan de Groot has worked at Telekurs (Nederland) BV for 20 years. From the late 1980s, he was instrumental in establishing and developing this branch, and has been its Managing Director for more than half of the past two decades.
Knight Equity Markets International has re-appointed JP Morgan GlobeClear to provide it with global clearing and settlement services. Knight began a review at the end of last year of its requirements for the clearing, settlement and related services of its on- and off-exchange trading activity. After the review, Knight reappointed JP Morgan GlobeClear, which has provided over the counter (OTC) and on-exchange securities clearing for Knight since 2004.
Linedata Services, a financial technology provider, has released Version 6.6 of LongView Trading and Linedata Compliance, which offers new features and updates across both products, including an enhanced user interface.
Trading software vendor GL TRADE has appointed Hugues Deroubaix as director of its buy-side businesses. His role will be to manage the design and development of execution software products for buy-side traders.
Fixed income trading platform Thomson TradeWeb says its Asia-based customers can now access the platform during Asian trading hours. "TradeWeb has long been synonymous with access to US Treasury bond liquidity and we are very pleased to be offering access to this dealer liquidity in Asian hours," says Lee Olesky, president, Thomson TradeWeb. The Osaka Securities Exchange has signed a memorandum of agreement with the Taiwan Stock Exchange. The memorandum envisages the two exchanges developing their business together in the Asian markets, via exchanges of staff, investor relations seminars, and eventually a joint trading platform.
The Financial Times has reported that star equity fund managers Gary Potter and Robert Burdett have defected to Thames River Capital, which manages about £5.1 billion in hedge and long-only funds.
