Citadel Securities recruits former Fidelity International head of systematic trading

Jonathan Finney was hired earlier this month as a director of European business development in a newly created position.

Citadel Securities has hired the former head of systematic trading at Fidelity International, a spokesperson has confirmed.

Jonathan Finney joined the firm earlier this month as director for European business development following a 12-year stint at Fidelity International.

In the newly created role Finney will oversee electronic trading relationships with European banks, brokers and exchange counterparties, with a focus on finding new business opportunities across the region.

“We are excited to welcome Jonathan to our growing global franchise,” said Remco Lenterman, head of global business development for Citadel Securities. “His deep expertise and exceptional industry reputation make him a great fit for our team as we continue to expand and strengthen our footprint in Europe.”

Finney first joined Fidelity International in 2006 as an equities trader covering European markets, as well as options and futures trading.

Throughout his time at the firm he worked closely with the London team to develop its equities and derivatives trading strategy.

In 2015, Finney was nominated for The TRADE’s Rising Stars programme due to his expertise in low-touch trading, with industry figures and colleagues praising his commitment to research, training and data analytics.
