Sanford C. Bernstein, an agency brokerage, is expanding its global trading services to include new strategies and markets.

As well as an increase in the number of strategies of its algorithmic suite, Bernstein has also widened the scope of the markets where it offers trading services to cover Asia and eastern Europe.

Cash and portfolio trading services are now available in Asia in 11 countries, covering Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and South Korea.

Bernstein will also launch trading capabilities in three countries in eastern Europe – Hungary, Czech Republic and Poland – on 20 April, with algorithmic strategies tailored for these markets also available.

Bernstein’s suite of European and US algorithms will also be increased from nine to 14 strategies. The new offerings are geared towards the better handling of trading around the close, more aggressive liquidity capture, small-cap securities trading and cash balancing.

Algorithm parameters have also been adjusted to include the ability to link multiple orders together to manage cash balancing and apply ‘would lit’ and ‘would dark’ levels to define the point at which a strategy will become aggressive and to determine the percentage of an order clients are willing to complete at that level. In addition, clients will also have the option to enter into or exclude auctions on a per trade basis, specify minimum dark fill sizes and set a parameter to ensure the strategy completes the order before the end of the trading session.
