Global investment services group BNY Mellon has launched an Asia Pacific capital markets operation via the Bank of New York Mellon Securities Company, Japan.
The new business is based in Tokyo and is tasked with providing dealing services on an agency basis across a broad range of fixed income and equity securities. It targets institutional clients in the Asia-Pacific region.
It will operate with a team of nine, led by Eiichiro (Eric) Masaki who has been appointed as the head of Japan capital markets sales. He reports to Kazuma Yamashita, the head of Japan global markets sales. Masaki has joined the firm from Societe Generale, where he was head of non-Yen fixed income flow sales.
Makoto Saji, the Tokyo-based president of the Bank of New York Mellon Securities, Japan, said that the initial plan of the new unit was to establish a strong capital markets business in Japan, as well as initiating dialogues with existing investment services clients.
