Brazil-based Kairos Asset Management (KAM) is to use US trading solutions firm StreamBase’s complex event processing (CEP) platform to support high-frequency trading strategies across multiple asset classes, including derivatives, foreign exchanges, futures and equities.

The platform will form the basis for KAM’s trading activities across markets in Brazil, the US, Mexico and Europe.

According to KAM COO Alberto Araujo, the StreamBase technology will initially be used for algo development and equity execution.

The firm, founded in 2003, intends to widen its focus from arbitrage trading strategies to offer a broad range of cross-asset investment strategies to international and local investors. It currently operates a co-located server for derivatives trading at BM&F, the derivatives arm of Brazilian exchange group BM&FBovespa.

“StreamBase’s whiteboard programming, combined with connectivity and visualisation options can accelerate time-to-market and allows customers to focus their time and efforts on their money making strategies,” said Richard Tibbetts, CTO of StreamBase.
