Daiwa Capital Markets, the investment banking arm of Japan's Daiwa Securities Group, has appointed Ali Khan as its London-based head of Asian equity sales.
For the last four years, Khan has been head of Indian equity sales, Europe, at Deutsche Bank. Kahn has covered the Indian capital markets since 1994 and has held senior positions at firms including Kotak Mahindra, BZW Securities, BNP and CLSA.
Khan's appointment is “an integral part” of the expansion of Daiwa's equity franchise, signalled last year by the firm's announcement of a strategy to build its non-Japan Asia business across product lines. Daiwa's Asian equity sales desk already includes Alex Lewis, who joined as managing director at the end of January from Marble Bar Asset Management, where he was chief investment officer of a pan-Asian fund. Lewis and Khan will report to Meurig Williams, regional head of equity, Europe and the Middle East.
