GETCO adds to business development team

Ex-NYSE Euronext director Edward Boyle is to join market maker GETCO's business strategy development team to help manage the firm's relationships with exchanges and trading platforms.

Boyle, previously executive vice president, director of US options exchanges at exchange group NYSE Euronext, will join GETCO in January 2011.

At NYSE Euronext, Boyle was responsible for the strategic development, market structure and technology platform of the NYSE Arca Options exchange. He has also worked as business development director for Canadian investment bank TD Securities and LETCO Trading Companies.

Boyle has also served on the board of directors at derivatives venue the International Securities Exchange and the Options Clearing Corporation and has held positions on the committees of the Chicago Board Options Exchange, the Chicago Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange.

“Ed is a widely respected thought leader in global market structure issues,” said GETCO co-founder Stephen Schuler. “At GETCO, Ed will play an important role in managing our relationships with the more than 50 exchanges and platforms globally on which we participate and make markets. We look forward to welcoming him to our team in the New Year.”

Boyle's appointment closely follows the hires of ex-Instinet executive John Fildes and ex-UBS equities head Daniel Coleman to similar roles at the firm.
