The EMSX system offers global , broker-neutral equities and futures screen-based trading to more than 2,500 brokers and algorithmic trading providers. The clients are split globally with 40% in EMEA, 33% in the Americas and 27% in Asia-Pacific. Institutions and asset managers make up 40% of clients, with hedge funds making up 20% and broker-dealers the remaining 40%.

Sourcing options

The system is delivered as part of the Bloomberg Professional service; local client installation is available with all server infrastructure remotely hosted.

Counterparty connectivity

The EMSX connects to more than 2,500 broker destinations and dark pools globally, providing access to nearly every listed market. Certified FIX (4.0-4.4) connectivity with all major order management system (OMS) providers is also offered, and the EMSX also natively integrates with AIM, Bloomberg’s buy-side OMS offering. The Bloomberg ticket allows parameter and configuration changes in a single day where possible and new algorithm deployment typically takes a week or less.

Asset classes

EMSX offers native support for listed equity, futures, options, index swaps and integration with Bloomberg fixed income and FX trading applications is available.

Pre- and post-trade analytics

The system includes a peer-reviewed pre-trade cost model. A post-trade analysis package including numerous benchmarks, integrated historial market data, news, and liquidity data is also available in the Bloomberg Professional service.

Future plans

In 2013 Bloomberg will deliver a portfolio pre-trade cost model, tools to automate trading workflow and analysis, advanced trading analytics across the Bloomberg functionality within trading applications and trading data within Bloomberg functions.
