HKEx extending after-hours futures trading close

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing is extending the session time of its after-hours futures trading, which includes Hang Seng index futures and H-shares index futures.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEx) is extending the session time of its after-hours futures trading of Hang Seng index futures, H-shares index futures, and their ‘mini’ equivalents, as well as renminbi currency futures.

From 3 November, the session will be extended from 11:00 pm to 11:45 pm.  In addition, the close of the after-hours clearing session will be extended from 11:45 pm to 12:30 am.

Since the introduction of after-hours trading in April 2013, over 3.3 million contracts have been traded.  The average daily volume has increased from 2.2 % of day session volumes in April 2013,  to 9.5 % of daily session volume during this month.

A total of 140 futures exchange participants, approximately 80% of all members, registered for after-hours trading, which was structured to cover most of Europe’s business hours and the morning part of the US business day.
