Hong Kong-based event driven hedge fund Senrigan Capital has hired Anthony Bongiorno as head trader. He joins from Citi Australia, where he was head of cash trading.

His duties are trading and optimising execution and he will also help manage the hedging and net positioning of the portfolio.

Nick Taylor founded Senrigan Capital in early 2009, in one of that year’s most prominent Asian hedge fund launches. The Senrigan Master Fund commenced in November 2009 and was seeded by Blackstone.

Bongiorno previously worked with Taylor, at Modal Capital, an in-house proprietary trading unit formerly operated by Credit Suisse, where he managed trading and execution.

Subsequently, he worked as a portfolio manager during 2008-2009 at Hong Kong hedge fund DragonBack Capital, a fund which later shut down. Others in the Modal Capital team joined global hedge fund Citadel for a spell before departing and ultimately establishing Senrigan Capital.
