Instinet veteran joins Direct Edge

US equities exchange operator Direct Edge has hired former Instinet executive Bill Cody as a sales director.

New Jersey-based equities exchange operator Direct Edge has hired former Instinet executive Bill Cody as a sales director.

Cody joins from broker-dealer Instinet, where he has held a number of positions after since 1999, the most resent as executive director and head of the broker dealer sales and trading desk.

“Bill brings an experienced trader’s knowledge of the broad offerings available on the market and how Direct Edge presents significant advantages,” said Brian Christian, head of sales at Direct Edge, who Cody will report to.

“In a very competitive trading environment, an increased focus on a consultative approach with our members is especially well-suited to Bill’s skills and reputation,” Christian said.

During his 13-year tenure at Instinet, Cody also worked as vice president of institutional equity trading and as a product and sales manager. Before Instinet, he was a manager, strategic accounts, for Dow Jones Telerate, and an associate for fixed income and international equities desks at NatWest Markets.
