JP Morgan equities head joins Citadel Securities

Laurent Marquis to join Citadel Securities in June this year.

The former head of equities trading for EMEA at JP Morgan has joined Citadel Securities, according to someone familiar with the matter.

Laurent Marquis departed JP Morgan in February and is set to begin his career with Citadel Securities in June this year in a senior derivatives role.

He joined JP Morgan in 2009 following a period with BNP Paribas as head of equities and derivatives trading for the Americas.

Marquis will be based in London, having worked in New York with JP Morgan and Paris with BNP Paribas.

The hire signals Citadel Securities’ push into European markets, following the launch of its US treasuries and credit default swaps in the region last year.

The firm also launched a euro-denominated interest rate swaps offering, and hired former JP Morgan clearing sales head Brian Oliver to lead its European strategy.

Citadel Securities has already captured a huge swathe of the US market, both in interest rate swaps and the futures market.

It currently executes approximately 21% of US-listed equity options volume and is listed as one of the top liquidity providers in USD interest rates swaps traded on Bloomberg.
