Daemon Bear, head of equity trading at JPMorgan Asset Management, has been elected co-chair of FIX Protocol Limited’s EMEA regional committee. He replaces Barry Marshall, CEO of trading technology firm BidRoute, who held the position for two terms.

Bear will work with fellow co-chair Alasdair Haynes, CEO of agency broker ITG International, who has served on FPL’s EMEA committee since July 2006.

“Throughout my career I have witnessed the significant value that technology adds to the trading process, and the FIX Protocol has proven to be a key enabler to many of these developments,” said Bear in a statement. “I hope to be able to apply my knowledge and experience to further promote the adoption of electronic trading practices and the FIX Protocol throughout the region.”

FIX Protocol also announced that Richard Bell, director of technology firm Peresys, has been elected as the new co-chair for its EMEA Southern Africa committee.
