Liquidnet appoints Andrew Walton as APAC COO

Institutional trading network Liquidnet has announced that Andrew Walton has been hired as APAC chief operating officer.

The institutional trading network Liquidnet has announced that Andrew Walton has been hired as APAC chief operating officer.

In this newly created role, he will manage member services, electronic trading systems and finance and administration functions across APAC.

He will be based in Hong Kong, and will report directly to Lee Porter, Liquidnet’s head of Asia-Pacific.

Liquidnet’s APAC region experienced a record first quarter during 2014. Principal amounts traded rose 12% to US$5.8 billion, beating the previous best quarter of US$5.17 billion, recorded in the second quarter of 2013.

Walton previously worked at UBS and was head of market operations at Chi-X Australia, in which capacity he was involved in the 2012 launch.

He also worked at the Australian Securities Exchange specialising in developing new products, including the implementation of a venue for the matching of large-sized equity trades.
