Markit has appointed Anna Mazzone head of sales and marketing for BOAT, the MiFID-compliant trade reporting platform. Mazzone joins Markit, which has managed BOAT's business operations since January, as a director reporting to Mike Rushmore, executive vice president and global head of sales and marketing. Mazzone will be responsible for the distribution of BOAT's three key services: BOAT Trade Reporting, BOAT Data and BOAT Datafeed. Previously, Mazzone was responsible for European sales and customer support at SuperDerivatives.

"Much has been said about the burden that MiFID is putting on financial institutions, but there has been little discussion about the opportunities it will bring," says Mazzone. "BOAT capitalises on these opportunities and I look forward to developing the sales effort around this innovative product in the coming months," he adds.

"BOAT is a pan-European trade reporting platform that will enable market participants to report OTC trades in equities, in compliance with MiFID, and will pool and disseminate both pre-trade quotes and post-trade reports. Twenty-two leading investment houses, representing 65% of the daily volume of OTC trades in the European Economic Area, will use BOAT from 1 November 2007.
