Mizuho Americas selects former Jefferies fixed income distribution head to expand its remit in the asset class

Incoming head of relationship management for fixed income at Mizuho previously served at Jefferies, UBS Securities, BNP Paribas, BTIG, MF Global, Salomon Brothers and Citi.

Mizuho Americas has appointed a former Jefferies fixed income specialist to expand its reach and remit in the asset class.

Jonathan Bass has been appointed as managing director and head of relationship management for fixed income at Mizuho Americas. Based in New York he will report directly to head of the bank’s fixed income division, Thomas Hartnett.

Mizuho said Bass would be responsible for client development and cultivating new relationships to help drive its growth in the Americas.

He joins Mizuho after most recently serving at Jefferies as global head of senior relationship management and global head of fixed income distribution, also based in New York.

Prior to joining Jefferies in 2014, Bass spent several years in fixed income and distribution focused roles for the Americas at BNP Paribas, MF Global, BTIG Investment Group, UBS and Citigroup.

“I am confident that Jon’s strong relationships and reputation will serve to further expand the breadth and depth of our client coverage,” said Hartnett in a statement.

“He is a proven leader in enhancing client experience and well-suited to help elevate investor awareness and participation in our rapidly expanding product capabilities.”
