The Singaporean subsidiary of Japanese broker Mizuho Securities has connected to European derivatives exchange Eurex via the bourse’s Singapore access point. The exchange said Mizuho is the first Japanese broker to connect to the exchange via Singapore.

“Through the connection to our access point, Mizuho Securities (Singapore) and its institutional customer base now have direct and reliable access to our international trading network and our full product suite,” said Michael Peters, member of the Eurex executive board, in a statement.

Eurex, a joint venture between German exchange group Deutsche Börse and SIX Swiss Exchange, has been active in Singapore since 2005, when it received regulatory approval from the Singapore Monetary Authority, the country’s financial regulator, and has operated its access point since 2006. The exchange opened a representative office in Singapore in September 2009, managed by Philip Joslin.
