On 26 July US equities exchange NASDAQ set new market performance records. NASDAQ’s market share of all US equity share volume was a record 30.4%, which it says was more than any other US exchange. NASDAQ’s consolidated volume in all US securities was 3.3 billion shares, compared with the total US consolidated volume of 10.9 billion shares.
NASDAQ’s matched market share in NYSE-listed securities was a record high of 19.6%. Of the 6.1 billion shares of NYSE-listed stocks traded yesterday, 1.2 billion shares were matched on NASDAQ.
NASDAQ systems processed a record 1.7 billion messages, a 42% increase in total message volume since the previous record set on 27 February. A record 326 million orders were entered into NASDAQ’s systems throughout the trading session, a 59.3% gain from the previous record also set on 27 February.
