Need To Know News (NTKN), a provider of computer-readable news for algorithmic trading, has launched its Lightning Bolt algorithmic news feed services at data centre provider Equinix’s FR2 Frankfurt-North International Business Exchange facility in Germany.

Lightning Bolt will be available to trading firms operating within the FR2 data centre, including buy- and sell-side firms that rely on real-time news feeds for trading. NTKN already offers Lightning Bolt through Equinix data centres in the New York and Chicago areas in the US. The service is also available in London.

By offering its news feeds through Equinix, NTKN will have access to the Equinix Financial eXchange, a community of capital market participants that locate their operations within Equinix data centres.

“Need to Know News relies on close proximity with its customers and partners to deliver the fastest and most reliable service,” said Petrina Steele, Equinix’s vice president for business development in Europe. “At Equinix, they can directly reach the major hedge funds, high frequency trading firms, proprietary trading firms, and investment banks that are already operating within Equinix centres.”

NTKN reports market news in real-time, providing coverage of the US and European futures, fixed income, energies, and foreign exchange markets.
