London-based agency broker Olivetree Securities has entered into a strategic partnership with Global Prime Partners (GPP), a provider of prime brokerage and trading services, to develop a targeted service offering for small hedge funds.

According to Olivetree the tie up will provide smaller hedge funds, which it claims are commonly overlooked and under-serviced by global investment banks, with trading and research services. “The smaller end of the hedge fund market is clearly underserved outside of the US,” said Daryn Kutner, CEO and founder of Olivetree Securities. “We have created our service to specifically address the needs of that growing market segment.”

“We are engaging in a series of strategic partnerships with specialists in order to provide a full front-to-back solution for smaller hedge fund managers. We found an ideal partner in Olivetree Securities, which has extensive research capacities and will add value to our client base,” added Kevin LoPrimo, managing director and head of hedge fund services at GPP. “We see this partnership helping smaller hedge fund management firms to get to market with less overheads and in a much shorter time frame.”

Olivetree Securities, set up by ex-Morgan Stanley executive Kutner in early-2009, has a focus on trading European and US equities for institutions using client-specific trade ideas, while GPP provides services to hedge funds, asset manager, family offices and professional traders of any size.
