Global market maker GETCO has promoted Jon Ross to chief technology officer. His new position will include the overseeing of GETCO’s strategic technology platform and the development of the company’s trading technology and execution services products. Ross will be based out of the firm’s Chicago headquarters.

Prior to this appointment, Ross was the head of GETCO Executive Services (GES) in Europe and oversaw order management, execution and technology solutions for the company’s European clients. He also led the creation of GES’s European offering in 2010 after launching the US business in 2007.

GETCO focuses on using technology to improve people’s ability to value securities, executive trades and manage risks. GETCO’s other recent executive appointments include assigning Robert Smith as head of Europe and Farid Moslehi as head of Asia.

“I was initially drawn to GETCO because of the firm’s deep commitment to developing market driven technology focussed solutions for investor’s trading and execution challenges,” said Ross.
