Shenzhen exchange names new chairman

China’s State Council has appointed Wu Lijun as the new chairman of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

China’s State Council has appointed Wu Lijun as the new chairman of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE).

Among his objectives will be the growth of the market, promoting the reform of ChiNext market, and strengthening services for small and medium sized enterprises, internet and high-tech companies.

Prior to joining SZSE, Mr. Wu worked as the assistant chairman of the country’s securities regulator, the China Securities Regulatory Commission.

SZSE and its subsidiary Shenzhen Securities Information have also announced the launch of a pair of new convertible bond indices.

The SZSE Convertible Bond Index and CNI Convertible Bond Index are designed to depict local convertible bond market.

From the base date until the end of July 2014, the SZSE Convertible Bond Index and CNI Convertible Bond Index have recorded return rates of 37.1% and 10.1% respectively.
