Citi has confirmed the appointment of ex-UBS director Tim Wildenberg as its new head of electronic trading in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Wildenberg will report to Andy Thomson, Citi’s head of equities for EMEA, and Daniel Keegan, global head of execution services.

He replaces Jack Vensel, who was recently promoted to global head of wholesale services at Citi.

Wildenberg worked at UBS for 14 years, where he ran the Swiss bank’s Direct Execution business in Europe, which offers electronic trading services such as direct market access and algorithmic trading.

Prior to UBS, Wildenberg worked for BZW Securities and as a dealer on the floor of the London Stock Exchange for W. Greenwell and Co. He is also one of the founding directors of messaging standard operator FIX Protocol and was on the board of pan-European multilateral trading facility Chi-X Europe, until his departure from UBS.

“Tim is an excellent addition to the global equities business; he’s a well known, influential and very well respected member of the trading and technology industry,” said Keegan.
