Liquidnet has expanded its European fixed income sales team, hiring Mark Taylor as a senior salesperson.

Taylor joins from HSBC’s fixed income division, where he was managing director of UK institutional credit sales. Prior to joining HSBC he spent 12 years in senior roles at Morgan Stanley.

Liquidnet is working towards launching its fixed income platform in Europe, following the acquisition of Vega-Chi in August 2014. The purchase put Liquidnet, which specialises in block trading of equities, into competition with a number of other new entrants to the fixed income market, all of which are looking to provide electronic trading solutions to plug a hole left by major banks reducing the number of bonds they hold.

Taylor will report to Constantinos Antoniades, global head of fixed income and Jonathan Gray, head of fixed income for EMEA.

"Mark joins at a pivotal point in the development of our fixed income business," said Antoniades.

"We have spent the last few months talking to our members and testing our model with them and have received an overwhelmingly positive response. Mark’s knowledge of the investment grade and high yield space, and his long-standing relationships will be critical as we introduce our platform to the buy-side.”
