Bill Smith leaves Deutsche Bank to head securities lending in the US for JPMorgan

William E. Smith has joined JPMorgan Worldwide Securities Services as a managing director. He heads Western Hemisphere new business development for the bank’s securities lending and execution products unit.

“Bill’s appointment underscores our commitment to growing the business and delivering best-in-class products, services and technology to clients,” says Sandie O’Connor, global head of JPMorgan’s Securities Lending and Execution Products business. “We are delighted that Bill has joined us to direct this effort,”

Smith will be based in New York and report to London-based Paul Wilson, recently appointed Global Client and Sales Executive of JPMorgan’s Securities Lending and Execution Products business.

“Our clients and businesses will benefit greatly from Bill’s deep knowledge of securities lending, extensive experience in building successful business management teams and track record for innovation and market savvy,” says Wilson.

Smith has more than two decades of business management experience in securities lending, collateral and cash management and capital markets.

He has held several positions in securities lending, including managing director at HSBC in the US and at Deutsche Bank, where managed securities lending operations in New York, London, Frankfurt, Milan, Mumbai, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

The JPMorgan securities lending client management team in the Western Hemisphere also includes John Gaudioso, head of financial institutions; Robert Betz, head of pension and endowments and Chris Kunkle, head of global investment managers.
