BTIG appoints ex-Goldman trader to run Asian unit

BTIG Hong Kong, an institutional brokerage firm, has hired a senior executive from banking group Goldman Sachs to lead its expansion in the Asia-Pacific region.

Jesse H. Lentchner has been appointed as CEO of BTIG in Asia-Pacific having spent over a decade at Goldman Sachs, most recently as co-head of execution services for Asia. He will join BTIG in June, working from the company’s Hong Kong office.

At BTIG, Lentchner will be responsible for managing the firm’s operations in Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia, using his experience of building fixed income and equities businesses in the region.

At Goldman Sachs, Lentchner also held positions as managing director, head of securities in India and head of execution services and co-head of the equity sales trading desk in Tokyo. He has also worked at Nomura in Hong Kong and W.I. Carr in New York.

“Jesse is a significant and pivotal hire for our international efforts and for the entire firm,” said Kevin Chessen, head of international trading at BTIG, in a statement. “His diverse global experience running large sophisticated businesses will give us a meaningful edge as we continue to expand our footprint in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and Australia.”
