Cantor Fitzgerald has bolstered its expanding prime brokerage business with the appointment of a new global head of capital introduction.
Emma Sugarman joins the New York-based broker in the newly-created role where she will lead efforts in reaching out to institutional investors.
Sugarman joins from hedge fund Serafima Investments, where she was head of business development for seven months, and was previously head of investor relations at Hudson Executive Capital, another New York hedge fund, for two years.
The hire of Sugarman is the latest move for Cantor Fitzgerald to beef up its prime brokerage team over the past six months..
In September Cantor Fitzgerald hired prime brokerage veteran Jon Yalmokas as CEO of the new prime services unit from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he was previously head of Americas prime brokerage.
In June, he was hired by RBC to reportedly lead its equity financing business from September, but according to Business Insider the move fell through in August.
However, in December, Noel Kimmel, the founder of its prime brokerage business and CEO of Cantor Clearing, left to join private equity fund manager Cerberus Capital Management.
