Bryan Blake has joined CIBC Capital Markets as managing director and head of global low touch execution after more than five years at Cboe Global Markets.
Toronto-based Blake brings more than two decades of electronic trading, exchanges and market structure experience to his new role at the Canadian bank.
Commenting on the appointment, Cam Gil, managing director and head, execution services – global equities at CIBC Capital Markets, said: “With deep market structure expertise, a proven record of building scalable electronic platforms, and strong relationships, [Blake] is well positioned to advance our low touch execution capabilities and deliver continued performance for our clients globally.”
Blake most recently served as vice president and head of Canadian equities at Cboe, where he supported the launch of Cboe BIDS Canada, to expand the firm’s institutional block trading offering.

The deal brings together equities trading venues, listings platforms and market data businesses across Canada and Australia, and is expected to reduce cost and complexity for Canadian market participants.
Prior to this, Blake spent nearly five years at Canada’s largest equity alternative trading system (ATS), TriAct Canada Marketplace as chief executive officer, until the firm was acquired by Cboe in 2020.
He has also served as a vice president at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he spent almost six years managing institutional and hedge fund relationships across Canadian equities and helped to launch Canada’s quantitative trading platform.
Previously in his career, he has also held positions at TMX Group, Citi, Scotiabank and Manulife.
