Citadel poaches Microsoft’s Turner for new CEO

Former Microsoft COO, Kevin Turner, has been named as Citadel Securities’ new chief executive officer.

Citadel Securities announced this morning that Kevin Turner has been appointed as its new chief executive officer.

Turner spent 11 years at Microsoft as chief operating officer where under his leadership the tech firm achieved revenues of over $90 billion.

He led a team of more than 51,000 employees in 191 countries and was heavily involved in the development of office 365 and Azure Cloud.

Citadel’s founder and chief executive officer, Kenneth Griffin, explained under Turner’s leadership, Citadel Securities “will further distinguish [itself] as the partner of choice for our clients.”

He said: “[Turner] will be an outstanding leader for Citadel Securities.”

Turner said he looks forward to leading the team, adding: “Citadel is a global technology leader, recognised for its work to level the playing field for investors and make markets more fair, transparent and efficient.”
