Brokerage and trading services provider ConvergEx has hired Oliver Bailly to head its exchange-traded fund (ETF) desk and selected Miguel Ruiz to run the global portfolio desk.

Bailly joins from Citi where he led the firm’s ETF create/redeem trading desk while also working with institutional clients on Citi’s program desk. Prior to Citi, he spent eight years with Bank of America Merrill Lynch where he had primary responsibility for ETF creation/redemption for the firm’s non-dollar portfolio sales group.

Ruiz joins from XP Securities, which is part of Brazil’s largest independent broker, XP Investimentos. He has also worked for Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he spent ten years in the American depositary receipts portfolio trading and sales trading group for Latin America, eventually rising to become a director of the firm’s non-dollar portfolio group.

Both Ruiz and Bailly will report to James Bossert and Sean Wagner, co-heads of ConvergEx’s global portfolio and ETF execution business.

“Oliver and Miguel are highly respected professionals and bring a wealth of ETF and portfolio expertise to ConvergEx Group,” said Craig Lax, ConvergEx Group executive managing director and head of global execution. “We are thrilled to add them to our team, where their knowledge and experience will greatly benefit our clients.”
