Investment banks Deutsche Bank and JPMorgan have each taken a minority stake in BATS Trading, the operator of the BATS ECN, an alternative trading platform for US securities. The size of the stakes and the financial terms were not disclosed.
“We are confident that our investment in BATS Trading will allow us to take advantage of ongoing market structure developments and continue enhancing our trading capabilities,” says Robert Flatley, managing director and global head of Autobahn Equity at Deutsche Bank.
Carlos Hernandez, global head of equities at JPMorgan, adds, “As the alternative execution space continues to expand and evolve, we remain committed to its development while providing our clients the broadest access.”
