Trayport, a supplier of multi-asset class electronic trading systems, has appointed James Davies head of its trader systems business unit. Davies brings over 9 years of experience in the trading industry to Trayport, having held the role of vice president, global head of futures product management at eSpeed International, a subsidiary of Cantor Fitzgerald, prior to joining the company. Trayport, which has recently changed its company structure, now offers separate business units for broker, exchange and trader systems.

"Building the new business units is an important next step for Trayport, and we have gone to great lengths to seek the right people for these positions," comments Elliott Piggott, deputy managing director, Trayport. "Davies’ addition to the trader systems business unit is a good fit, bringing a background that includes technology, market knowledge and a strong customer focus,” he continues.

“The trader systems business unit at Trayport has the potential for growth over the coming years," comments Davies. "It is well positioned and respected by it clients. With the continued growth ofcommodity trading, we expect to see growth in the current client base, and with the continued deregulation and integration of the energy markets across Europe we except to see more firms looking to use Trading Gateway. In particular we expect growth in emissions trading and an increase in the number of hedge funds and will aim to grow the business in these areas this year,” he adds.
