Agency broker Bloomberg Tradebook has hired former Instinet executive Peter Howard as European head of equity trading and execution consulting.
Based in London, Howard will take a leading role in Tradebook’s push for greater market share in Europe. The firm was recently ranked top for speed in The TRADE’s 2012 Algorithmic Trading Survey.
Howard’s departure from Instinet Europe, where he was head of equities, was confirmed in September 2010. He spent five years at the execution-only brokerage, having previously worked at ABN AMRO.
Bloomberg has been building out the capabilities of Tradebook aggressively since hiring Ray Tierney as CEO and president in 2010. Tierney brought former Morgan Stanley Investment Management colleague Rob Shapiro on board as global head of execution consulting soon after.
